horror story one

This story is taken from the reddit user Badger_Silverado and as much as I’d like to say it’s fictional, it actually turns out that it’s not. It is a real story that the user experienced. Some people even claim to not believe the story but there’s no denying the fact that it sounds real and scary enough to scare you at night.

Here it goes:

My nephew lived with me in an old farmhouse which was built in the 1840’s. When he was around 4-5 years old, he told me that there was another boy called Charlie who lived in the same house. He told me that Charlie did not know what video games were and Charlie’s dad left him home all alone, by himself.

Around the same time, my nephew had an imaginary pet cat, which was an anthropomorphic cat by the name of Mr. Cat so, I shrugged it off thinking it was the same thing.

A couple weeks later, while I was shaving. The bathroom door was left open and I thought that I could see my nephew kind of looking in at me out of the corner of my eye. I stuck my head around and I could see his back. He was behind, messing with an old china cabinet that we used to keep important stuff in. And as soon as I walked into the room, I could see my nephew sitting in the living room watching tv. He couldn’t have crossed that distance that fast or so silently.

I asked him if he knew anything about it and he calmly said “Oh, yeah, that was Charlie. He says there’s a really book in there from when you were a little boy.” and to my surprise, at the bottom of a stack of old documents and stuff in the china cabinet was a book which I got as a gift when I was a kid. I didn’t even know and had possibly forgotten that it was there or that it even existed at all. It was under two heavy boxes of documents and it couldn’t even been seen until the boxes were lifted out. I was shocked and even terrified at the thought.

The little boy didn’t look like you think of the usual ghosts; the ghosts we imagine are transparent, usually. He wasn’t transparent, he didn’t float, he didn’t look spooky. He just looked like a kid.

Now,

“I’m convinced that people see ghosts or spirits (or whatever they are) every day and don’t realize it because they look just as real as we do.”

This story has been liked and reblogged by several people who believe in ghosts. And a lot of people have even suggested that the kid was merely joking about it. While many even doubt the authenticity of the story, I think the part about ghosts looking as real as we do, is true. I don’t know if they’re real or not, but these spooky stories do send an unwelcome shudder down my spine, for sure.
